SECOND ANNUAL OLIVE FESTIVAL

The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce Second Annual Olive Festival will be held at the La Mirada Regional Park on Saturday, September 20, 2008. The event will kick off with an exciting 5k run through the beautiful La Mirada Regional Park. Everyone is welcome to participate!
The Olive Festival is an exciting event that showcases local businesses, and includes a classic car show and a food fair of local cuisine. The Olive Festival is a chance for the community to meet and learn about local businesses and the services they provide. The 5k run will benefit both your health, and the La Mirada High School Cross Country Team.
This is an annual event that local residents and businesses can bring the entire family to. The event has many “Olive” themed events and entertainment for all ages. At the food fair residents can purchase “sample books” for $10.00 which allows them ‘a taste’ from dozens of local restaurants. The Classic Car Show will showcase local resident’s pre-1970 vehicles. And in between eating and checking out cars residents can stop by local businesses booths to see what different services are offered.
The theme of the Olive Festival is designed around the History of La Mirada, when it was predominantly olive groves and every property was required to have an olive tree on its premises. The Chamber plans on the Olive Festival becoming a staple event in La Mirada as a way to not only highlight La Mirada’s history but as a way to showcase local business, healthcare providers and restaurants.
